Let’s Talk Tennis

Meet Rachel

Tennis Expert and Mom

Every player’s journey in tennis is unique, and Rachel’s journey is no different. An architect by trade, she found herself the busy mother of two boys aspiring to play college tennis. Navigating the journey with limited means and wanting to keep their lives as “normal” as possible proved to be a steep learning curve. Somewhere along the way, Rachel become a Junior Tennis expert and began offering Junior Tennis consulting services to other tennis parents in 2012.

In early 2018 she joined the staff of USTA Mid-Atlantic Foundation to support and manage the change to one unified national competition system. Her expertise includes all aspects of player development and in depth knowledge of ratings, rankings, tournaments, and team competitions at all levels. She served as Director of Competition and Play for USTA Mid-Atlantic until her retirement at the end of 2024. Widely regarded as a subject matter expert, Rachel served on numerous national and section task forces and committees while on staff with USTA. She continues her service as a current member of the USTA National Junior Competition Committee.

Personalized Competition Plans

The Joy of the Journey Matters. It all depends on finding and maintaining the right balance.

“I met Rachel when I had already been a college coach for more than 20 years. Despite all of my own tennis knowledge, we found ourselves in need of help navigating the world of junior tennis with our son Frank. Rachel helped us figure out what tournaments to play thereby keeping the experience manageable and affordable. She also advised us when we were working with the local school system trying to balance academics with an intense travel schedule.”

Head Coach Men’s Tennis

“Rachel Kros is the real deal as a human being. She is an expert at helping your child find a home in college tennis, in a place where they will thrive on and off the court. When I met Rachel, my son was chasing a crazy dream having switched sports in his Junior year of high school. I was engaged with a recruiter and called her because I felt like they were taking advantage of me and underselling my son.

In the very first phone call, Rachel took the time to understand what my son’s personality and goals were.  Throughout the process she kept us true to her discipline to find the “right school,” and then the right tennis team.

Rachel offers compelling and practical advice for tennis parents to follow - all at a shockingly reasonable price. Thanks in large part to Rachel, my son was able to play Division 1 college tennis at a dream school.  It has been an incredibly fulfilling experience for all of us. We could never have done it without her.”

- M. Thomas Pablo

“I first met Rachel nearly 20 years ago while her kids were playing our tennis tournaments. She started as a Tennis Mom, and has grown into a highly regarded Tennis Professional. Rachel has knowledge, influence, experience, and perspective about junior tennis that is unmatched.  I have seen Rachel help countless players, parents, teaching pros and academies over the years. I have worked with Rachel both personally and professionally and I would recommend her services to clients of all ages and levels.”
